When mild mannered, David Britman comes home to find his wife not only sleeping with another man, but packed and ready to leave him, it sends him on a downward spiral into delusion and madness. In the way of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Adjusted can be considered a modern day noir thriller about love, lust and murder. A WORD FROM CHRIS Okay, so it's no surprise I am a Psycho fan. In fact this film was actually inspired by the ending of Psycho II. That's right, part two. I had caught the film ON DEMAND and since I had never seen it before, I thought to myself, "Eh, why not?" And after watching Psycho II, I immediately felt a desire to bring the essence of Norman Bates to life, but in my own way. I didn't want to do a Psycho fan film. I felt there was no point in that. And I didn't want to deal with a killer in an insane asylum. Been there. Done that. In fact it was really the ending of Psycho II that I wanted to base my film off of. Those last 5 minutes of the film where Norman..... well I don't want to give it away. Regardless, I wanted to do something like that. And a day or two later, Kim Santiago and I conceived Adjusted. We penned the script in a matter of hours and before long, we were ready to film. Casting was quick. The film was shot in a day and well, you know the rest. All in all, Adjusted is definitely not my usual style in filmmaking and I think that's why I like it. And to truly enjoy this film or at least appreciate it better, it would help if you were a fan of older cinema or at least the Psycho films. With that being said, hop on Netflix and rent em. You'll thank me later. |
