Following the events of "The Dark Knight", the Joker is sentenced to Arkham Asylum where he is placed into the hands of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a slightly wet behind the ears psychiatrist and current replacement for Dr. Jonathan Crane (The Scarecrow). Spanning over the course of five individual therapy sessions, the Joker slowly peels off Harleen's authoritative mask while molding her into an image he sees more fit- Harley Quinn. A WORD FROM CHRIS "Call Me Mr.J" marks the directorial debut of Kim Santiago. Kim and I wrote the script together based on an idea she had been toying around with for years. Refitting the seduction of Harley Quinn into the Christopher Nolan Batman world, we centered the story around how Heath Ledger's characterization of the Joker might woo his niave doctor. Since I was going to step into the spotlight and play the Joker, I had to for the first time, fully relinquish my directorial credit to Kim as well as my cinematographer credit. Please note this is NOT something I would ever consider doing under any other circumstance. For me to trust in someone enough to entirely film a Blinky Production while I quarterback the lead role is definitely a hard thing to swallow. But I am very grateful of my decision. Kim did splendidly and for her first time ever behind a camera, I was quite impressed. |
